About us
The EOSC Association is the legal entity established to govern the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). It was formed on 29th July 2020 with four founding members and has since grown to over 200 Members and Observers. The Association membership is jointly responsible for delivering the objectives agreed in the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the European Union and EOSC Association to form the official Partnership. The EOSC ecosystem is being co-created in a series of funded projects and initiatives from Member States and Associated Countries. The EOSC Association plays an important role in helping to coordinate and steer these investments via its Task Forces and other governance structures.

Update News! Belgium's First EOSC National Tripartite Event Belgium recently hosted its inaugural EOSC National Tripartite Event, gathering more than 100 people, under the auspices of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2024. The event showcased 41 projects, use cases and initiatives driving Open Science in Belgium. Take a look on the Belgium country page on the EOSC-A website: https://lnkd.in/dKNZxZSZ. Organised by BELSPO, in close collaboration with EWI (Department Economy, Science and Innovation of Flanders), the FWB (The Wallonia Brussels Federation), and Belnet, the Belgian Mandated Organisation, the national tripartite event key highlights included discussions on Belgium's progress and engagement in the EOSC, with the presentations from Gaétan du Roy and Vanholsbeeck Marc. The tripartite representatives Michael Arentoft, Volker Beckmann Beckman and Karel Luyben, presented the challenges and main priorities for advancing the EOSC Federation. The keynote address by Sabina Leonelli, from the University of Exeter, highlighted the importance of openness as foundational value of scientific research, calling for an inclusive and responsible use of Open Science principles. 🌐 Building a Digital Infrastructure to Advance Open Science in Croatia: Insights from Ivan Marić of SRCE, EOSC-A Mandated Organisation Here are new highlights from our recent interview with Ivan Maric, Director of the University of Zagreb, University computing centre (SRCE) in Croatia. 🤝 Collaborative Approach: A National EOSC initiative, HR-OOZ, led by SRCE, comprises 21 organisations, including the Ministry of Science and Education (MZO), the Croatian Science Foundation (HRZZ), all public universities, major service providers, European Research Infrastructure Consortia (ERICs) and other RI from Croatia that are on the roadmap of the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI - European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures). 🎓 Educational Initiatives: With a legacy in educational activities, SRCE imparts digital skills to over 100,000 students and supports researchers in Open Science practices, exemplifying its commitment to capacity building. 💡 Croatia's Strengths for EOSC: High awareness and a long history of Open Science practices in several key institutions. Now Open Access and FAIR data are common topics in all scientific communities. 🔮 Future Outlook for EOSC: The key to the success of EOSC is an active research community. The EOSC Focus consortium partners convened at the #EOSC Association offices in Brussels on Friday, 19 April 2024, for their second in-person General Assembly. The energised and positive in-person meeting facilitated the fine-tuning of an ambitious work plan in advance of the project’s final year.
